Chaos mars Tanga mayoral election

Kinondoni Municipal executive director Mussa Natty, who doubles as returning officer, was forced to postpone a mayoral election yesterday, due to a fracas pitting  opposition camp councilors  against those of the ruling CCM .

The opposition party -- Chadema -- yesterday announced the names of its councillors it nominated to vie for mayoral posts in the Dar es Salaam City amid complaints over a foul play bent on sabotaging the polls.

The Tanga City Council is scheduled to meet today in its first session to elect new leaders to run it after the 2015 General Election in October. While the Civic United Front (CUF) has already nominated Mr Rashid Jumbe.
