China to give TZ Sh320bn loan for key water project

>A towering dam in central China holds back a vast expanse of water destined to travel over 1,000 kilometres north to Beijing, but critics say it will only temporarily quench the city’s thirst.

Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank Limited (TADB) has signed a loan agreement with eight groups of Iringa farmers to offer Sh1 billion.

The second phase of the Water Sector Development Programme was officially unveiled in Dar es Salaam last week. As expected, there was another round of pledges from the government even though there is little to show by way WSDP 1’s achievements. Indeed, the sustainability of the project has been questioned.
