Coronavirus: WHO warns 190,000 could die in Africa in one year

There have been almost 1,000 deaths and more than 18,000 infections across Africa so far.

The statement comes as Madagascar is promoting a product that has not gone through clinical trials.

Security forces are struggling to enforce the lockdown intended to stop the spread of the virus.

 Five people reportedly died and some 1,019 were injured after they were bit by mad dogs in Mbeya Region in a period between 2013 and 2014. The statistics were unveiled by Mbeya regional livestock officer Kristian Mapunda when he spoke to The Citizen on the extent of rabies disease in the region.

The Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA) has cautioned over the possibility of El Nino rains falling at any time between now and April next year.
