VP tells religious leaders to pray for peaceful polls

AHEAD of the referendum on the proposed constitution and the general election this year, the government has appealed to religious leaders in the country to keep praying for peace and rally their followers to participate positively in the two major events.

>Roundtable discussions aimed to ensure peaceful elections in strife-torn Burundi later this year were launched on Thursday in Bujumbura with a plea to stop any election-related violence.

Local government elections, one of the most important events in the national election calendar, take place today against the backdrop of major developments, including the constitutional process now headed for referendum in April 2015;
