>The government has allayed fears of lawmakers over endorsing the East African Community (EAC) Monetary Union Protocol, saying many windows of opting out of it in case things go wrong would be available.

The East African Community (EAC) has described a $1 million project – financed by the World Bank - as a catalyst for realization of the region’s Monetary Union.

The government has said that Tanzania's ratification of the East African Community (EAC) Monetary Union Protocol on June 25th 2014 demonstrates that the country is not a stumbling block to regional integration.
