The nation is shocked at the escalating rate of accidents happening in our roads meant for vehicles to carry people and agricultural products among others. It seems a day hardly goes-by without dear lives of our fellow citizens having not been lost.

Despite agreeing to the latest three-day ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, there is no guarantee that the parties to the conflict in Gaza will observe the truce. 

>Like all Tanzanians in and outside the country, we are shocked by the death of 42 people in the Iringa road accident. President Jakaya Kikwete has declared it a national disaster and called for support for those directly affected by the tragedy.

Six innocent Tanzanians were on Saturday slaughtered on the Tegeta-Mwenge road at Lugalo in Dar es Salaam. Twelve were seriously injured. A survivor says the cause of the accident was, as it is normally the case, speeding!

>Less than half of Dar es Salaam residents enjoy constant supply of piped water, and their pain of having to hustle for this key commodity is furthered by the knowledge that close to 60 per cent of the precious liquid that leaves the sources is wasted en route to the consumers.
