Ewura seeks to reduce cost of oil importation

>The government has been asked to review the fuel Bulk Procurement System (BPS) because there are indications that the system has created monopoly.

>The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (Ewura) has conceded that there might be huge theft of petroleum products from pipelines connected to tanks of oil marketing companies.

The Energy and Water Regulatory Authority (Ewura) needs to keep an eye on the global trends in oil prices to ensure we benefit locally when fuel prices tumble.

We will be farming down both Pangani and Kilosa-Kilombero licences and the process is being run by the UK-based First Energy, a brokerage company with experience in energy deals. We have about double digit companies interested to come-in. By the end of March, we hope the process will finish and then we will know who the potential partners are.
