Full dossier on Swiss billions ready for MPs

 Nearly four months since a French judge offered a clue on how to get the list of people who have stashed away billions of shillings in foreign bank accounts, the government has yet to lodge a formal request, The Citizen has learnt.

The earliest Tanzania can hope to lay its hands on the Swiss billions is 2020, The Citizen on Sunday can authoritatively reveal today. Even then, it will happen only if everything goes according to plan and the country manages to recover the money with the help of the International Centre for Asset Recovery (ICAR).

>Nearly four years down the road, Tanzanians will finally get to know the truth about the Swiss billions that are allegedly hidden in the secret bank accounts of local politicians, businessmen and public servants.

>After years of dilly-dallying and secrecy by the government on who owns much cash in offshore accounts, the Alliance for Change and Transparency (ACT-Wazalendo) party will finally reveal the names of those involved on July 4.

>Three parliamentary committee chairpersons have resigned over the Sh306 billion Tegeta escrow account scandal. Those who handed in their letters to the Office of the Speaker are Bariadi West MP Andrew Chenge, Sengerema MP William Ngeleja and Lupa MP Victor Mwambalaswa.
