Government in new plan to boost productivity in farming

The Connected Farmer Alliance (CFA) — a public-private partnership for Vodafone Group, the US Agency for International Development (Usaid) and TechnoServe — has announced its first commercial agreement on the use of mobile technology to increase the productivity of low-income farmers in Tanzania.

The government has introduced a new organ - placed under the Ministry of Agriculture – as it seeks to raise productivity of the sector that employs over 70 per cent of Tanzanians in the working age.
