Govt fury over UK poaching allegation

>Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda yesterday directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to look into the allegation that 23 leaders of the Association for Islamic Mobilisation and Propagation (Uamsho) face “inhuman acts” in a Dar es Salaam remand prison.

>The government has dismissed as blatant lies claims in local and international media that members of last year’s Chinese presidential delegation illegally bought and exported ivory. Top officials said the reports were driven by jealousy.

The Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (Tato) is confident with the way the government responded to tourism challenges but it wants a faster pace in addressing poaching and improving the tourism business environment.
