Govt revokes 200 Immigration jobs

>The government has re-advertised 228 posts for immigration jobs after the scandalous first attempt saw the recuitment of 70 officers cancelled early in the year over nepotism.

The cancellation, last July, of 70 job offers in the Immigration Department, was a huge embarrassment for the government. The decision, communicated through the parent ministry of Home Affairs, was a culmination of a highly-publicised alleged scandal surrounding the recruitment process.

The controversial multibillion-dollar joint venture contract that led to Tanzania Port Authority (TPA) surrendering a 51 per cent stake in Dar es Salaam port to a foreign-based firm has been revoked, The Citizen has learnt.
