Govt unveils new plan to improve maternal health

The government has said that it would construct five major and fifteen small power distribution substations to boost distribution in the country.

>A World Bank-funded project that seeks to improve service delivery in Tanzania’s major urban centres has had a number of positive outcomes during the past few months, a senior government official has said, calling upon other donors to start supporting the initiative.

The government in Mara Region has been asked to make sure that it implements its three-year strategic plan to reduce maternal and newborn deaths.

Improved maternal health will not only boost the quality of life of mothers and their babies but also the welfare of the entire nation.

>Tanzania has scored low in a latest survey that assessed 58 low and middle income countries that desperately need nurses who specialise in maternal health, but it was a head of  its East African partners - Kenya and Rwanda.
