Huge risk of Ebola spread, warns UN

The UN's health agency says the deadly Ebola outbreak in West Africa could infect more than 20,000 people before it is brought under control.

Health ministry warned yesterday that the entire city is now facing a public health threat following the outbreak of cholera. Seven people have died in less than two weeks and at least 230 others are hospitalised due to the waterborne disease.

Spending cuts imposed by the International Monetary Fund may have contributed to the rapid spread of Ebola in West Africa, UK-based researchers say.
