INSIGHT : Girl child’s Day message stresses break of silence

Tanzanians long for change in this year’s elections. And as a good politician the ruling party’s presidential candidate Dr John Pombe Magufuli promised voters exactly that when he kicked off his campaigns on Sunday in the Jangwani grounds in Dar es Salaam.

Parents sometimes think they’re protecting a child by not telling him someone’s sick, but 5- to 8-year-olds will pick up on it if family members are sad or whispering or the usual routines are disrupted.

>There is hope that a long-term family planning programme will be widely practised among women in the country.This is important because for a long time now, family planning has been undertaken by employing short-term methods like injection and pills that seem to be common among the health staff in both public and private health facilities.

As the world marks the Day of the Girl Child today, the European Union (EU) in Tanzania has lauded the Constituent Assembly (CA) move on reviewing the legal marriage age for girls in the Proposed Constitution.
