Lawyers in push for more regional court powers

Lawyers in East Africa have been challenged to take up cases before the Common Market of East and Southern Africa (COMESA) Court of Justice.

The East Africa Law Society (EALS) has accused the Government of creating disharmony in the labour sector.

As the Constituent Assembly began it sitting in Dodoma yesterday, Tanganyika Law Society (TLS) has pointing out weaknesses in the principle of separation of powers as a black spot in the judicial system.

The High Court ruled yesterday that it has no mandate to determine the nature and extent of changes the Constituent Assembly may make to the draft constitution.
