Leaders now divert funds to labs plan
President Jakaya Kikwete’s directive that all public secondary schools should have laboratories has become a thorny issue to most district councils across the country with some of them trying to reallocate funds budgeted for other activities to finance construction of the facilities.

In this era of science and technology, laboratories are vital facilities that we have to provide our learners in secondary schools. The government initiative to set up a science lab in each secondary school is meant to curb the shortage of the facility on the one hand, and to encourage students to opt for science subjects on the other.
