Letter to my beloved daughter

In the backdrop of what happened at the ‘Charlie Hebdo’ magazine headquarters and the Hyper Cacher grocery in Paris leaving 17 innocent people dead, there have been discussions regarding how the Western Media covered the event, with some African commentators especially in the social media blaming the West of bias.

>As you read this, it’s St Valentine’s Day. Siku ya   Wapendanao, we call it in our good old Kiswahili. No big deal, if you ask Wa Muyanza and his village oriented ilk. But then, let’s admit it, the Valentine’s Day is okay, because it gives the fun-loving Wabongo the excuse to spoil a beloved one, doesn’t it?

Mum it is exactly 2 years since you went to the internal peace. It broke our
hearts to loose you. But God is still taking care of us. Memory is a way of
holding onto the things you love, the things you never want to loose. 
They say time is healer, is it really? or we just bury our sorrow deeper and 
deeper! we wonder, Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a 
memory no one can steal. Mum to the world you were just one, to us you were our world. We are at peace...

No words can express the pain we felt when we lost you on Wednesday 22nd February 2012 at 6.30 p.m. Over the two years, precious memories of your beautifully life have been our only comfort.
We remember your affectionate smile, the sweet sound of your voice, your kind and most generous heart that would have a place for everyone.

We the family of the late Leonard Michael Mashaka would like to offer our heartfelt gratitude and the deepest thanks to each and every individual who joined us, prayed, comforted, lent us a helping hand and shoulder to cry on at such a difficult and trying time, as we mourn our beloved Leonard Michael Mashaka, who was recalled to the LORD on the 23rdNovember, 2014 and laid to rest on the 26th November, 2014 at the Kinondoni Cemetery, Dar es Salaam.
