Mobile phone market search to boost farmers

The Connected Farmer Alliance (CFA) — a public-private partnership for Vodafone Group, the US Agency for International Development (Usaid) and TechnoServe — has announced its first commercial agreement on the use of mobile technology to increase the productivity of low-income farmers in Tanzania.

Agriculture will continue to be the mainstay of Tanzania’s economy for the foreseeable future. It is for this reason that any innovation geared at making our farmers produce more will always be welcome.

When internet services started in Tanzania in 1995, little was known that they would be easily accessed via mobile phones.
