“For four years thousands of tons of coal has been washed up from my village of Ndumbi up in Lake Nyasa, citizens use this water for drinking”, says James Mbawala the chairperson of Ndumbi at Nyasa District in Ruvuma region Southern part of Tanzania.
He said that TANCOAL Company which is extracting coal at Ngaka in Mbinga district and using Ndumbi port at Lake Nyasa for coal transportation to various places within and outside the country.
