There is absolutely no excuse for wife beating

Wife beating is wrong, yet it is a practice that is so widespread in Tanzania that it has come to be taken for granted. A survey conducted in 2011 by an NGO, Champion, shows that 54 per cent of women and 38 per cent of men aged between 15 and 49 years believe that husbands are justified in beating their wives!
