>The warring parties in South Sudan are still far from reaching a peace deal even after this week’s reconciliatory talks in Arusha, it has been observed.

At least five African presidents are expected to witness the signing of the South Sudan peace deal brokered by Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) here today, The Citizen has reliably learnt.

The two sides from the conflict in South Sudan are meeting in Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa, on the day a deadline expires for them to sign a peace deal, or face sanctions.

 President Uhuru Kenyatta has congratulated his South Sudan counterpart Salva Kiir and rebel leader Riek Machar for holding face-to-face talks and signing a peace agreement Friday.

On paper, the war is over in South Sudan, after rivals signed a peace deal to end 21-months of violence that left tens of thousands killed.
