Residents and authorities face roads nightmare

Heavy rains across the country in the last few weeks has not only turned life upside down for most people but authorities are worried subsequent infrastructural rot could cost an upward of Sh44 billion in repair works alone.

Mwajabu Mwidadi, 25, has to walk for one and a half kilometres from her house at Tabata Bima area in the city to fetch water for domestic use at the TIOT Filling Station along Mandela Road. She does that at least five times a day.

Fear and confusion has engulfed Dar es Salaam residents, especially those living in flood-prone areas following Tuesday’s heavy rains that rocked the city leaving many homes flooded.
