Sudan rebels, army brace for fighting season

South Sudan rebels yesterday accused the army of violating a ceasefire, just hours after it came into effect, by bombarding their positions along the White Nile river.

South Sudanese President Salva Kiir has ordered all government troops to cease fighting rebel forces as part of a peace agreement, his spokesman said, ahead of a full ceasefire on Saturday.
