Sugar project to take off in Bagamoyo

It is official. The much-touted $620 million (Sh1 trillion) Bagamoyo sugar project is no more. The key financiers have pulled the plug on what would have been one of Tanzania’s prime projects.

The project that aims at improving the very pathetic traffic jam situation in Dar es Salaam has arguably been among the greatest road projects in the city in modern times.

Mkuu wa Wilaya ya Bagamoyo, Mhe. Zainab Kawawa amewasihi wafanyabiashara kutumia bandari ya Bagamoyo kuingiza bidhaa zao na kusafirisha bidhaa zinazotoka nje ya Bagamoyo.

Mhe. Zainab ameyasema hayo alipofanya mkutano maalum na wafanyabiashara wa Bagamoyo wanaotumia bandari ndogo ya Bagamoyo baada ya wafanya biashara hao kuacha kutumia bandari hiyo wakidai huduma zisizoridhisha toka kwa uongozi wa mamlaka ya bandari ya Bagamoyo.
