Talks are on with Kenya on tourist vans, says govt

>Tanzania will not hit back at Kenya for banning its registered tour vans from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi, according to Minister for East African Cooperation Harrison Mwakyembe.

>Kenya yesterday lifted the ban it slapped on tourism vans shuttling between Arusha and Nairobi through Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), pending a review of a bilateral agreement signed in 1985.

 Tourism and Natural Resources Minister Lazaro Nyalandu yesterday condemned Kenya’s decision to bar Tanzanian registered tour vans from accessing the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

>Government officials from Tanzania and Kenya will meet in Arusha next month to seek ways of addressing a row on the ban of Tanzania’s tourist vehicles from accessing Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi since last December.

>President Jakaya Kikwete and his Kenyan counterpart, Mr Uhuru Kenyatta, have resolved the dispute between the two countries, which had its roots in Kenya’s decision to ban Tanzania-registered vehicles from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi.
