Tanzania exports rise by 9.2 per cent on strong tourism, manufacturing

Tanzania’s value of exports has increased by 9.2 per cent as manufacturing and tourism improved in the year ending October 2015, according to the Bank of Tanzania (BoT).

>Tanzania’s exports went up by 2.4 per cent to reach $8.539 billion in 2014, President Jakaya Kikwete said.

Tanzania’s exports increased by 9.6 per cent to $9.3 billion in the year ending July 2015 as tourism performance improved further, data from the Bank of Tanzania indicates.

>Horticulture exports from Tanzania hit a record $450 million last year, up from $374 million in 2013 and $380m in the previous year.

Tanzania’s cashew nut exports increased by 31 per cent in the year ending February 2015 as majority of the traditional crops recorded lower output.
