The rising vandalism on the newly installed materials for the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) in the city has prompted the government to look for the lasting solution by involving public information officers.

The government announced  yesterday that the Sh20 billion worth depot for the Dar es Salaam Rapid Transit (Dart) project at Jangwani Valley will not be pulled down as part of an ongoing operation to demolish houses in flood-prone areas and wetland.

>The government has allowed owners of commuter buses (daladala) here to temporarily operate the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system.

The date for the launching of the Dar es Salaam Rapid Transit service has been pushed back to January, according to the Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office responsible for Local Government, Mr Jumanne Sagini.
