A Tanzanian environmental conservation organisation is among 21 organisations that have won the UNDP Equator Prize 2015, an international award that recognises outstanding community efforts to reduce poverty, protect nature and strengthen resilience in the face of climate change.

President Jakaya Kikwete has been named “Icon of Democracy Award” winner for 2014 in Africa, it was announced yesterday. The award is given by The Voice Magazine Achievers Award committee on behalf of ‘The Voice’ magazine published in the Netherlands.
