UK troops for UN duties in South Sudan

Tanzania will send a contingent of one battalion to the troubled South Sudan to be part of a UN peacekeeping mission. This becomes yet another addition to the country’s contribution to world peace under the auspices of the UN, for it also has troops keeping peace in Darfur in Sudan, DR Congo and Lebanon.

South Sudan's rebel leader accuses the government of violating a ceasefire hours after it came into effect, following the signing of a new peace deal.

China says 700 troops are ready to be deployed to South Sudan to bolster a UN peacekeeping force in the world's newest state.
