American diplomat recalls some highlights of Zanzibar Revolution

>An American diplomat, Mr Donald K. Petterson,  relives the events of the Zanzibar Revolution 51 years ago. Mr Petterson was the vice consul at the US Consulate between 1963 and 1964 and consul in 1965. He was later nominated by President Ronald Regan as the US ambassador to Tanzania in 1986. Excerpts.

Roughly 150 hours ago, which is a somewhat idiotic way of saying one week ago, but which I’m applying to prove that I am not 100 per cent arithmetically kaput, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Zanzibar Revolution.
