Irresponsibility and negligence by local authorities and school administrators have been cited as the main reason for bad performance during last year’s Standard Seven National Examinations in the region.

The 15 per cent performance improvement in last year’s Form Four examination results is nothing to celebrate about, education analysts and activists have said.

A total of 518, 034 out of 763, 602 pupils who sat for their Standard Seven examinations this year have passed, the National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA) says Saturday.
