Exam results: new entrants outpace traditional giants

Zanzibar. Some 98.87 per cent of Form Six finalists who sat their national examinations earlier in the year have passed, the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (Necta) announced here yesterday.

Any right thinking person who understands the circumstances under which our school operates will agree with me that our performance in last year’s Standard Seven National Exams was very good.

The 15 per cent performance improvement in last year’s Form Four examination results is nothing to celebrate about, education analysts and activists have said.

Irresponsibility and negligence by local authorities and school administrators have been cited as the main reason for bad performance during last year’s Standard Seven National Examinations in the region.
