BREAKING NEWZZZZZZ: BOT TAKES OVER FBME BANK FROM TODAY

>The central bank has taken over the management of troubled FBME Bank Tanzania.That comes amid criticism by experts that the move came too late owing to the seriousness of the alleged financial crimes committed by the bank.

>The FBME Bank is still under close supervision of the Bank of Tanzania (BoT) as  Mr Lawrence Mafuru remains its statutory manager despite his recent appointment to the post of the Treasury Registrar.

The Bank of Tanzania (BoT) and the Financial Intelligence Unit have placed the Federal Bank of the Middle East (FBME) under investigation after the United States accused the bank of money laundering and financing terrorism and organised crime.
