CENTRAL CORRIDOR FORUM: Transport seen topping foreign exchange earner

The government seeks to mobilise funds from both local and international sources so as to improve the central transport corridor -- especially by expanding Dar es Salaam Port and revamping the central railway line.

The East African Community (EAC) has asked President Jakaya Kikwete to spearhead infrastructure development along the central corridor.

The World Bank board of directors has approved a $300 million (Sh480 billion) loan to Tanzania to improve its railway and road transport infrastructure.
