THE Kisutu Resident Magistrates' Court in Dar es Salaam ordered a Burundian national, Vanessa Shuwejimana, (19), who was allegedly found conducting prostitution at a hotel in Kariakoo area along Pemba street, to be deported back to her mother country.

The High Court ruled yesterday that it was illegal for people to gather within and beyond the radius of 200 metres from polling stations, ending a two-week long controversy whether voters were allowed to stay behind after casting their ballots. The court did not specifically bar voters to keep a 200-metre distance from polling centres but insisted Section 104 (1) prohibited any person from holding a meeting on election day regardless of the radius in metres.
