>Gabon seized control of Group A after the opening round of matches at the Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday, beating Burkina Faso 2-0 while hosts Equatorial Guinea drew with Congo Brazzaville.

To close out the 17th edition of the Zanzibar International Film Festival, some of Africa’s musical legends will be performing whilst top filmmakers from around the world are awarded for their work.

 In response to a rising groundswell of requests and recognizing the role and place ZIFF has in developing the film and creative industries in Tanzania and east Africa ZIFF has today announced the ZIFF East African Music Video Awards Competition. The Awards are managed in collaboration with Push Mobile Media Limited.

The Award aims to highlight the link between film and music as well as support the growing music video production industry in the region.

>After nine days of fanfare and film viewing at the 17th edition of the Zanzibar International Film Festival, curtains finally rolled down with the Awards Ceremony at the Ngome Kongwe Amphitheatre, Zanzibar.

 Monday was a special day at ZIFF 2015, with a unique and memorable day of film and music in perfect harmony. July 20th saw the screening of the Moussa Diallo biopic, Sound Tracks of Life Moussa Diallo – followed by a live performance from Moussa Diallo himself. The film screening was introduced by Diallo himself, and filmmaker Helle Toft, who elaborated on the personal yet universal themes in the film; reconciliation and forgiveness. Diallo’s story may be unique, having left Mali at age 17...

On May 25, 1963, 30 countries met in Addis Ababa to establish the Organization of African Unity, to jointly face the new challenges arising after decolonisation.
