Dar girls step up preps for Games

Despite their solid performance at the 2011 All Africa Games in Mozambique, the national netball team, Taifa Queens, will miss out on next year’s continental multi-sport event in Brazzaville, Congo.

With the 2015 All-Africa Games barely three months away, Tanzania’s preparations for the multi-sport event are laughable. Ironically, athletes from other countries--including hosts Congo Brazzaville, Kenya and Ethiopia--have set up camp at home as they scheme on how to steal the show at the games in September.

Tanzania is one of the 146 countries expected to feature at the 31st Olympic Games to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from August 5-21, next year. However, unlike most of these countries, we seem to be poorly prepared for the event.
