Insecurity caused by endless land conflicts is likely to impact on the economy of Kiteto district should the situation remain like that in the long run.

Chadema presidential candidate Edward Lowassa assured residents of Kiteto District yesterday that if elected in October polls, his government will form a reconciliation commission to end the ongoing land disputes between farmers and herders in the area.

He was famous as Mzee Mhogo, and not surprisingly. Cassava is one of the crops under cultivation at his farm at Chekanao village in Kiteto, some 18 kilometres from the district headquarters.

It seems that the cries by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, who is also Kongwa Member of Parliament, Mr Job Ndugai and several other law makers about the wanton killings in Kiteto have not been heard by the government. If the government has heard the cries, surely it would have moved to normalise the situation.
