EDITORIAL : MCT praise welcome ,for life goes beyond polls

>It isn’t surprising that, as the 2015 General Election tempo builds up, rough play is emerging. It is like some among us are bent on proving—as it oft said—that politics is a dirty game. Electioneering is a component of politics in which crooked conduct comes to the fore as individuals vie for political posts that are up for grabs from the grassroots to the national level.

Some business leaders have lately argued that whoever forms the next government should sustain investments in infrastructure. It is an idea worth supporting. The business community has been craving improved infrastructure.

Reports on corruption and other dirty tricks during the primaries are very disturbing. From all corners of the country, incidents indicating there are many aspirants who are out to win through unethical means shows we are a country treading on treacherous ground, for it is a sign we could end up getting leaders who will have won office by virtual of their money and not the ballot.

As campaigns for the October 25 polls hot up, some politicians have been using all manner of tactics to gain and consolidate support. However, tactics which some have been employing are totally lacking in terms of civility.

>It is bad enough that people die. It is worse when some do so when that eventuality could have been avoided but isn’t due to recklessness and greed. Going by the saying that hope is the last thing that a person should lose, people close to a terminally ill  patient don’t despair.
