Govt issues budget pledge to youth ahead of new fiscal year

Dar es Salaam. It is an open secret that Finance minister, Ms Saada Mkuya inspired hope in low-income earners when she presented Tanzania’s 2015/2016 budget in Parliament last Thursday.

This financial year has been tough for the government. It was difficult to implement last year’s budget, largely due to failure to raise funds on time. Matters have been made worse by less than satisfactory expenditure management in the wake of poor revenue collection and missed tax targets.

>The week leading to February 15, 2014 was partly marked by the protest of traders in the country against the use of electronic fiscal devices (EFDs). Businesses were closed in various parts of the country, including very busy Kariakoo shops in Dar es Salaam, Iringa, Songea and Tabora, among others.

Dar es Salaam. The government has pledged to provide more support to over 51,000 manufacturing industries in Tanzania with the aim of addressing the challenge of unemployment in the country.
