The government has defended the proposed highway across the Serengeti National Park, saying constructing it will neither violate the East African Community (EAC) Treaty nor harm the ecosystem.

The Appellate Division of the East African Court of Justice (EACJ) has poked holes in the regional bloc’s lower court for entertaining a case against a controversial plan by the Tanzania government to construct a tarmac road across Serengeti National Park.
