Kenya tourism suffers amid security scares

Terror alerts issued earlier in the week on social media sparked off panic yesterday, leading to stepped up security measures in regions said to be on the terrorists’ hit list.

Ministers in charge of tourism in the East African Community (EAC) could have done better at the close of the International Tourism Fair in Berlin, Germany, than assume that tourists would listen to their reassurances about security.

In what appears to be measures to prevent a repeat of Garissa-style terrorist attacks, authorities have beefed up security in most public buildings in the cities of Dar es Salaam, Mwanza and Kampala.
