UN set to investigate albino killings in EA

>The UN Human Rights Council on Thursday decided to appoint an expert to investigate abuses suffered by albinos in East Africa. The 47-member council adopted by consensus a resolution establishing a three-year watchdog position. It expressed “grave concern at attacks and widespread violations against persons with albinism, including women and children, persons with disabilities and the elderly.”

We’ll end albino killings, vows JK

>President Jakaya Kikwete has expressed shock over the fresh wave of killings of people with albinism in the country, saying this barbaric cruelty, which has also given Tanzania a bad image, cannot be tolerated. In his first remarks since the renewed wave of attacks on albinos, which has subjected Tanzania to global condemnation, President Kikwete sought to absolve the government from blame, saying past efforts by his administration had stamped out the vice.
