Many killed in DR Congo fighting

A South Sudan army general is killed in an ambush during an advance by government forces on the rebel-held town of Bor, the military says.

Two Tanzanian soldiers serving as UN peacekeepers in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were killed when their convoy was attacked by suspected Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels in North Kivu on Monday.

More than 20 people, including women and children, are killed, most of them hacked to death in eastern DR Congo, UN peacekeepers say.

Two Tanzanian peacekeepers with the UN mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo have been killed in an ambush near the city of Beni, the UN says.
