Mashali stops Cheka’s reign in non-title bout

Tanzania’s famous professional boxer Francis Cheka has been urged to abandon local non-title bouts and focus on international fights to upgrade his standard.

Tanzania’s professional boxing scene, once again, has had an opportunity to wallow in the limelight as renowned super middleweight boxers, Japhet Kaseba and Thomas Mashali, are expected to clash in a Universal Boxing Organisation (UBO)-sanctioned International Light Heavyweight title bout in the division on March 29.

A prominent middleweight boxer, Thomas Mashali, has vowed to floor up and coming professional boxer, Abdallah Pazi in a non-title fight, which will take place at the Friends Corner Hotel in Dar ces Salaam tomorrow.

Mohamed Matumla By Elias Kimaro Mohamed Matumla is expected to fight against Nasseb Ramadhani in a super bantam weight non-title eight-round bout in Dar es Salaam on September 27. The re-match has been scheduled as Matumla’s opponent is focusing on revenge against Matumla after losing the previous bout. Thomas Mashali will put his Universal Boxing Organisation (UBO) Africa middleweight belt on the line when he takes to the ring for a fight against Ibrahim Tampa today. The 10-round fight will take place at the National Stadium from 6pm.
