The 1986 Tanzania’s science and technology policy specified to spend 3.5 per cent of the GDP on the advancement of science and technology in the country. But it was later noted that the spending was not achievable. In 1995, the policy was revised and it was recommended that the research budget should be at least one per cent of the GDP.
