NEC says can’t rush Katiba referendum

While the process of updating the voters’ register using the biometric voter’s registration (BVR) is still in slow progress, thus making holding a referendum for the proposed Constitution untenable, the government maintains that the date for referendum will not change.

 If you were all set for a referendum on the new constitution in March or April next year, do not hold your breath. The National Electoral Commission (NEC) announced yesterday that a referendum then is practically out of the question.
