FIRE THREAT AT NBC HEAD OFFICE

Today at 09:30am on 3rdDecember 2014, there was a fire threat at NBC Head Office building situated along Azikiwe and Sokoine Drive in the city center. All staff and customers were safely evacuated and accounted for. The NBC technicians and safety officers established an electrical fault at one of the cargo lifts that resulted in the triggering of the fire alarms. The fire brigade and police force responded to the scene.

Give me friendly fire any time? But not military fire, please!

No doubt acting out of curiosity, a reader emailed to ask me what the heading to this column, ‘Friendly Fire From Yesteryears,’ is intended to portray. How can fire be friendly, the fellow asked - perhaps bearing in mind such episodes as the Great Fire of London in 1666!
