Power outages end Saturday : Tanesco

Business operators have called on the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (Tanesco) to end power outages.

Tanzania Electric Supply Company’s contracts with private companies that produce electricity come to an end effetive in October, signalling a major relief to the state-run power utility firm which currently grapples with a huge burden of operational costs.

Tanzania Electric Supply Company (Tanesco) said in Dar today that the ongoing power rationing is due to a drop in production of hydro-electric power by 81.3 percent.

If state power utility firm, Tanesco, was financially starting to see a light in the end of the tunnel, it does not see anything now because that light has been distinguished by the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Agency (Ewura).
