Whilst we have not seen dramatic devaluation of the Tanzanian Shilling in recent years, we have recently witnessed what no one had predicted a year ago. The Shilling today is trading against the US Dollar at between Sh2,050 to Sh2,200 depending on where you look. The former is the rate on the Bank of Tanzania website whilst most of the major banks and bureaus are quoting Sh2,200 to buy US$1.
